Why am I waiting?

Okay I needed to get a couple of x-rays this morning and guess what, I walk in go up to the desk to sign in; then the woman behind that desk says have a seat, it's now 30 minutes later--I have observed approximately 11 different employees move about this office and I'm wondering what the heck is going on, there isn't a soul in the office as you can see from this pic I snapped with my Iphone.  These people don't seem to be doing a lick of work, then out of the blue my name is called--they need my information I suppose. Okay let's see how long this takes.......I guess it didn't take long, I am NOW being called to get my x-rays done. Wow didn't take long at all, I'm already walking out, it was just a few snaps and I was done. What the hell was all that waiting for, what are they doing that takes them so long to get to their "patients"? I suppose this is the question that haunt us as long as there are waiting rooms.

My wife brought home a little souvenir from grocery shopping and I was bit shocked to see it actually.  It was a free magazine that you can pickup as you exit the store.  I am certain all of you have some kind of periodical that you pick up as you leave.  However this was a first for me.  I didn't know that our local police departments were having so much trouble finding some of the bad guys they are looking for.  On the cover of this free magazine called Fugitive Finder is the "gentleman" pictured and then on the next page along with many others are the "bios" of the folks they are tracking down.  Now the county this magazine is advertising for is the next county over, I would imagine that the county I live in would be following suit should this be a plan that works out for the neighboring Nassau County.   If anyone sees  Mr. Fajardo, let Nassau County know, there is two thousand bucks in it for you.  Let me know if any of you have something similar to this or bizarre that your local grocery store has free magazines for.

Columbine AGAIN?

I'm sure you already know about the two students from Long Island who decided they were going to repeat Columbine all over again.  Well I'm not really sure what exactly is in the water here on Long Island however it is linked to the highest rate of breast cancer in the country (thats beside the point).  There is a ton of things to do here on Long Island, the public schools here (I don't care much for them) are considered some of the best in the country and those schools have tons  of clubs, activities, and sports available, especially the schools where these two kids went.  So what gives, these kids don't have an Xbox, don't have sports that they play, don't have some other crap to keep them occupied?  Thank God Almighty their terror plot was found out and put an end too.  It just makes me think who else is thinking up this crazy shit, is there some other "trench coat mafia" terror cell ready to take their place?  I don't know, I hope not, though I do think we cant rule it out. 

We're suppose to be worrying about the "other guys" yet we have to worry about our own people trying to kill us and instill that fear that the other guys would love for us to have.  I guess a lot will be said before we find out what was going on in the heads of these two.  The investigation is just getting started and who knows others may be involved.  Anyway just maybe there is a Michael McDonough in your town getting ready for Armageddon.

I Was Almost Assassinated

A couple days ago a client who I had not heard from in quite some time called, he wanted to schedule and a time to sit with me and "have coffee".  He was suppose to assassinate me but his attempt at doing so never came about.

First some background on this client.  He was the 58 year old son of another client of mine, a woman of 85 years old.  I actually was able to get a refinanced mortgage last year for her because she was served with DIVORCE papers from her very young 82 year old husband.  Apparently he went to Florida on a business trip and came back home with a some young hot 65 year old chick on his arm, hence the divorce papers.  This man was her second husband and came into the their marriage with my client having all of the property and wealth to begin with.  So the divorce is started and get this, it gets really nasty, these two fought over EVERYTHING.  They fought over postcards from vacations they had together and even dishes from the kitchen.  The divorce decree was about 3 inches thick.  Well my client now had to cash out her own property to pay this dirt bag off, hell, it wasn't even his house.  However New York law stated he was entitled to half of everything including the house.  So the divorce as well as my dealings with them is now over, I got her the money she needed to keep her home and pay this bum off.  Six months later I get a call from the son saying he needs help.  The mortgage had not been paid since they had it.  Make a long story short, I was able to arrange a deal with their current bank so he could make some payments, keep the house, and avoid foreclosure.  Three months later the son calls me again and tells me he is in trouble.  He made only one payment from the prior deal I brokered for him.  So now he is facing foreclosure.  I put him in touch with someone who specializes in getting folks out of these situations.  My guy was going to be able to help him.  The only thing the son needed to do was cooperate and do everything my guy needed him to do.  Well the son dragged his ass and his house was sold on the courthouse steps.  Mind you his 85 year old mom doesn't even know what is going on.  I put him in touch with another guy who would be able to at least recoup some of the money from the sale of his house.  That deal is still in works almost a year later.

Now when the mom found out they were facing foreclosure, she had a stroke and was admitted to ICU.  When the house sold, she took a turn for the worse--things didn't look good for her.  By this time I had been completely out of the picture since I had done all I could do.  Every now and then I would hear some things from the last guy I referred to them, he would give me periodic updates.

Now the son was a bit off, he was 58 years old, lived with his mom, had no relationship with anyone else to speak of.  I remember being at their home the first time I met them, there was an oil painting of this gentleman when he was 12 years old on the wall, apparently the mom loved this portrait and had it commissioned for him to be depicted as Gainsboroughs, "Little Boy Blue".  It was almost exact replica of the painting but with this guys face in the painting.  He was embarrassed at time when his mom gave me a tour of the house and pointed out that picture of which he actually posed for.   Let me tell you I could go on and on about some of the weired stuff I saw there.

SO NOW I meet this guy at the diner yesterday and my wife was convinced that this guy was going to shoot me.  She felt (she heard all the stories about this guy) since he may want to blame me in some weird ass backwards way for his life being in the crapper, he just might take it out on me and shoot me in the diner.   I was like okay, thanks wifey for giving me the "oh shit I might die today" feeling.  For some reason I never questioned him as to why he wanted to see me.  Anyway I am at the diner, he's inside waiting for me, he gets my attention, and I'm ready to go MARINE on him should some shit go down.  If looks like he reaching for a gun out of his pocket even though he is reaching for a pen, he is getting a coffee spoon jammed into his eye.  We sat down, said our hellos--and as it turns out, he wanted to thank me for the sympathy card I sent some months back for his mom, yeah I found out through the grapevine his mom had passed not long after they lost the house.   He also wanted to give me his resume, since he was out of work and felt with the contacts I had, I might be able to do something for him.  Most of all I think he just wanted to talk since he seems to have no one else in his life.  He asked me a great deal for my advice on many things.  Most of all I think he just needed an ear and that I was for a couple of hours. 

We finally said our goodbyes, I took his resume, shook hands and left.  Who knew?

Just An Observation

I was driving along on my way to the post office to pick up some stamps and drop off a package when I noticed a young man (from what I could tell) giving something or someone obscene gestures, "the finger" so to speak and many other things with his hands and arms.  We were going along the same direction and his truck was in front of mine, so I could see all of this take place.  He appeared to be alone in the truck as well.  He seemed quite bent on making sure his feelings were felt through these gestures.  At first I thought he was motioning to someone he may have known, then I thought he was really pissed off at someone walking on the street.  Then I looked to my left and there was a church there.  A Christian based church, I don't remember the actual name of it.  However I also noticed just to the right of the church on the lawn there was a cross with a purple cloth on it and that cross had two other crosses on either side of it.  Obviously it was a symbol for the Crucifixion of Christ and the two that died with him that day.  They were approximately ten feet tall, so anyone passing could obviously see what it was.

Now after watching this guy go through all of this trouble to make his feelings known to the world, I noticed he several bumper stickers--ALL of them centered around satanic worship.  So I figured there was my answer, sort of.  I honestly must say my first reaction was to get out of my car and punch him in the face but I didn't.  I suppose Jesus Christ would not have wanted me to behave that way, not that I would under any other circumstances, I mean you just cant go around punching people in the face, right?  Then I thought he was just some stupid asshole and doesn't really know how to conduct himself in public.  So I settled for that since I particularly didn't feel like going to jail--I mean he is entitled to his opinion I suppose.  I just thought it really odd for someone to display so much hate so openly and probably didn't even really know why he was doing it himself.
